CHICKENS Well-cared for chickens depend on the following:-
Mortality during rearing 3% – 5%
Mortality during laying 1% per month
Age at first laying 19-20 weeks
VACCINATION PROCEDURE
Repeat the New Castle vaccination every 3-4 months, the Marek’s vaccination is done at the Hatchery before the breeder is given chicks.
NOTE : Mareks vaccination when buying chicks is difficult to know, you should consider getting chicks from recognized places.

DEWALT TREATMENT
This is done mostly in laying hens:
First time given at 8 weeks, repeated at 18
weeks. After 18 weeks, they should not be given worming medicine again until after reaching peak production.
After Peak Production, chickens should be given worming medicine every 8-10 weeks or when worms are seen in the feces.
BROILERS
Each broiler should have an area of one (1) square foot. The house should have enough windows, fresh air, and the floor should have a litter of straw or rice husks.
EQUIPMENT
100 chicks can use one chick plate and one chick fountain for one week from the second week onwards use one feeder with a diameter of 38 cm for 50 chicks.
Follow the vaccination schedule as recommended
Obtain the vaccine from a known and reliable source
Store your vaccine in the fridge and not the freezer at a temperature of 4 – 8 degrees centigrade.
The vaccine should not be given later than 4.30 am because the vaccine can be damaged by heat or strong sunlight.
When you see signs of illness, such as drowsiness, writhing, diarrhea, not eating food, not drinking water, labored breathing or death, report it immediately to a veterinary specialist for immediate advice and care. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
