SWINE DISEASE VACCINATION, PREVENTION AND TREATMENT (new) I Mshindo Media
Today we will focus on two pig diseases which are.
1. Anthrax
2. Skin disease.
1. Kimeta (Anthrax)
This disease is caused by bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis, these organisms remain viable for a long time and can remain alive in the soil for many years.
Symptoms of the disease.
-swelling in the neck/spine.
-Homa
-Passing bloody stools.
-Difficult breathing
-Sudden death
-An animal that has died of anthrax does not have blood clots (continues to ooze) in open areas such as the nose, mouth and ears, and even flies do not approach its carcass.
Prevention and treatment.
-Pigs should be vaccinated against this disease.
-This disease can be treated with antibiotics, you can use Penicillin or Oxytetracycline.
-A sick pig should not be slaughtered and a dead one should not be dissected.
-Report to a veterinarian immediately.
Note: Do not revive a pig that has died of anthrax because even humans can be infected with this disease. Dig a hole away from people, pour kerosene into the hole, and then bury the carcass.
2. Skin disease.
This disease is caused by a lack of vitamins. It can also be spread by lice, fleas, flies and mites.
Symptoms of the disease.
-Frequent scratching.
-Swelling on the skin.
-You are unable to eat well.
-Weight loss.
Treatment and prevention
-Feed pigs with food that contains enough vitamins and minerals.
-Wash the pig thoroughly.
-Use insecticides to kill insects such as fleas, mites, lice, and flies.
-Pay attention to the cleanliness of the pavilion
The following are the symptoms of a sick pig :-
· shows no signs of appetite
· may breathe rapidly, a sign of fever
· dry eyes
· dry skin
· he is growing apart
· ears sleep
· on fair skin the skin may turn red
· tail becomes thin
· to pass stool at another time to pass blood
DISEASES CAUSED BY INSECTS
Domestic insects
Worms are the main parasites that affect the intestines of pigs. There are more than 30 types of worms, but the worms that affect pigs the most are roundworms and tapeworms.
Round worm
This lives in the large intestine of pigs and takes food from the pigs, so the pigs can lose weight. Roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides) are the most common. These worms are as big as a pencil. Infection begins when the animal eats food containing the eggs of these worms.
SYMPTOMS
· Hair loss (anorexia).
· Anemia.
· Later the weight decreases.
· If worms are not treated when they are large, they can rupture the intestines and cause death.
PREVENTION
· Prevention by putting medicine in food and using clean utensils
· Grazing using a rotational method and treating grass
· Separate children and adults
· Giving them deworming medicine regularly
· Wash the female before giving birth.
· You can use moringa trees
Tape worm
These grow like ribbons and are found in different places in the world. They do not have a gut so they eat through their skin and absorb nutrients. They absorb folic acid and vitamin B-12 in the body, they can cause poisoning because after eating they leave dirt and it grows like a ball that sits near the liver.
SYMPTOMS
· Stuttering
· Anemia
· Skin changes and becomes worse
PREVENTION
· Giving them deworming medicine
· Make sure those caring for pigs use the toilet and clean it.
EXTERNAL INSECTS
External parasites include mange.lies and myiasis
Many
It is caused by insects called mites that live on the skin of pigs in the areas around the eyes, ears, legs and neck.
SYMPTOMS
· The pig is growing and there are scratches on the wall on its legs, ears, eyes and ears.
· The skin develops patches like blisters and red, ulcer-like lines.
· The pigeon’s feathers are ruffled.
· The castle grows we don’t rest
· Deaths
· And anemia in children
PREVENTION
· Wash the pig twice a week
· Men need to be washed too
· Give them medicine every time a pig enters your farm.
· Cleanliness of the pavilion
ARRIVAL/TREATMENT
· You can also wash them with clean water and soap.
· You can wash them with organophosphate
· You can inject Ivermectin because it helps a lot.
LICE
These are blood suckers and the symptoms are anemia and the animal also develops red spots on the body. You can also treat it by using insecticides (benzene hexachloride) which is used to kill lice.
MYIASIS
This is a disease caused by flies that lay eggs in wounds. The eggs grow to the point of becoming large flies and cause the wound to become larger.
The sore becomes dirty and looks like black mold, which are fly eggs, so to prevent this you need to clean the shed and reduce the number of pigs in the shed so they don’t crowd together.
DEWORMING
Deworming medications that have been proven to be safe when given according to proper instructions are as follows:
vermectin (Ivomec®), fenbendazole (Safe-Guard®), levamisole (Tramisol®, Levasole®), pyrantel (Banminth®), dichlorvos (Atgard®) na piperazine.
You can schedule your vaccinations and arrange with your veterinarian to ensure they are vaccinated on the correct day.
· Dume/Boars – every 6 months
· Sows – 2 weeks before giving birth and after weaning
· Piglets – 1 week after weaning
· Fatteners – one week after weaning and three months later
· Gilts – 1 week isolation period and can be repeated after three months
