FERTILIZATION OF FISH POND WITH MANURE AND (FISH) ALONG WITH THE EXPORT OF FISH CHICKENS.
Depending on the type of soil, fire ash can be spread in the pond before adding water to reduce soil compaction and kill some of the insects that are enemies of fish in the pond area.
Fertilizers can be spread in the pond before adding water to help create a stagnant water environment (i.e., soil compaction).
Alternatively, fertilizer is placed in a special area (Fence) immediately after water is added to the pond to fertilize it and enable it to have algae and small microorganisms that will be the primary food for fish.
Signs of the presence of such algae in the pond are that the water turns green.
The type of fertilizer depends on its availability. Cow, goat, sheep, pig, chicken, duck manure and even green leaves that decompose easily and are non-toxic to animals and humans can be used.
The amount of fertilizer applied depends largely on the size of the pond, the type of fertilizer and the number of fish in it.
A good measure of how much is enough is to dip your hand into the water up to your elbow, and if you can’t see your palm, then stop adding fertilizer as the algae and microorganisms in it are enough to feed the fish in the pond for several days.
Over-fertilizing is dangerous for the fish, as they can die from lack of oxygen, especially at night.
FISH CHICKENS EXPORT
Put about 200 chicks in one bucket. It is good for the farmer to have a habit of reducing water
When you reach the pond, lower the bucket so that the water in the bucket mixes with that in the pond.
Allow the fish to emerge from the pond on their own without releasing them. It will take some time for all the fry to enter the pond. This way, the fish will not experience the shock they might experience if
released. Sudden shock can lead to death.
FISH FISH FISHING.
Your source of chicks should preferably be young and not stunted chicks.
For Perege fish, plant two (2) to three (3) fry per square meter.
Currently, Perege fish are the recommended fish for freshwater fish farmers in the country.
Kambale can be raised by an experienced farmer as their care requires significant capital in
feeding them and expertise in producing their chicks.
FISH FEEDING.
Fish, like other animals, need to eat.
Fish food can be divided into two groups: –
Natural food found in the pond such as algae, microorganisms and small fish.
Additional food that is added to the pond by the farmer.
In order for natural food to be available in the pond, it is good that the pond is well fertilized, as the desired algae grow where there is fertility.
Additional food is placed in the pond by the farmer himself. The type of additional food depends on its availability, cost and the type and size of the fish. Some additional food are: corn bran, rice bran, cotton and peanut husks, alcohol spinach, ugali and kitchen waste, some wild leaves, leaves from the garden.
It is recommended that the farmer feed it every day, at the same time, at the same hour and in the same place. This habit builds the fish’s habit of eating more and reduces the amount of food that is wasted.
Do not feed more food than the fish need for that day. For example, do not put a whole can of bran at once and stop feeding for a whole week! Some of the food that remains will rot and some days the fish will have no food, they will starve and die!
